Lough Derg fishing and accommodation
Lough Derg is the largest lake on the river Shannon and is a natural mixed fishery offering superb pike and coarse fishing. It also has wild brown trout which are mostly fished during the mayfly season. The lakes many islands and sheltered bays that offer interesting and exciting places to fish. Bream, tench, rudd, roach and perch can be fished from a lake boat.
The lake is rated a top water for record weight pike. The European Pike Angling Challenge is an annual event and is normally held during the third week of September.
Our accomodation comprises of three self catering houses, set in 30 acres nestling right on the shore of Lough Derg. Guests only have to walk to the end of the garden to start fishing or take a boat trip out on the lake. The wonderful village of Mountshannon offers pubs with traditional Irish music, cafes and restaurants.
Our houses are ideally located for visiting the many wonderful tourist attractions in Clare, Limerick and Galway. The Burren and Bunratty Castle & Folkpark are among the most popular visitor attractions in the area. There is also a golf course and horse riding centre nearby. Both Galway City and Limerick City are both under one hours drive. Other fantastic days out include The Aran Islands, Ailwee Caves and The Cliffs of Moher.
